That's Tellin' Her - Epilogue (for now)
May. 17th, 2007 09:07 amAs babbled in posts here and here, it appears, as situations often do, that this one will go out with a whimper rather than a shout. After complaining to my boss that I was acting in a discriminatory and harassing manner, my Administrative Assistant has failed to follow through. I was told informally yesterday that when the HR Manager contacted my Assistant (a step I wholly support), she was unable to provide any specifics to her claim and she did not use the terms 'discrimination' or 'harassment'. The issue appears dead unless she comes up with some details.
What does this mean in the long run? An uncomfortable working environment for a while (I'll forgive but not forget). Whether she knows it or not, I believe that her failure to provide any substance to her claim has branded her as 'crying wolf' when there was no wolf around. I'm not so foolish as to think that all is in the past. It's not. My Assistant remains a person who views life as half empty and who desires princess treatment to which she is not entitled. I will continue to believe that she would be marginally happier in another job but will resist suggesting such.
Life will go on.
