rickps: (Movie)

Saw the Simpsons Movie yesterday with my buddy Rob here in Toronto.  First time I've gone to see a movie on its first day.  No lines at all at the theater, odd.

Rob and I seemed to agree with the reviews, the movie's a B/B+ rating.  An entertaining enough story line, some very clever gags.  Biggest negative was that the movie felt like a collection of short TV clips stitched together.  Not a bad thing necessarily, just not as smooth a story arc as many recent animated movies.

If you love/like the Simpsons TV show, you won't be disappointed.

Worth seeing in the theater?:  Yes (the audience response was half the fun!)
Buy the DVD when it comes out?  Absolutely
Go see it a second time?  No
Recommended for watching when you're in a coma?  No, you should be fully awake for this one

One of those 'spur of the moment' days.  The weather was overcast and cool, perfect for wandering.  Just as I was about to head on out for some touring, my host Kent asked if I wanted to join he and his buddy Stephen for coffee.  Turned out that they were walking down Church Street to the St. Lawrence Market to meet Stephen's boyfriend Tony for lunch.  When they suggested that I come along, I jumped at the opportunity.

I'm not sure if every major city has one of these indoor markets (think the Ferry Building market in SF or Pike Place in Seattle), but it seems to be going in that direction.  The St. Lawrence Market is situated in the requisite old building.  Extremely popular with the locals working in the area, it was buzzing with activity on this Friday afternoon.  Lots of shops, lots of dining choices (or is 'dining' a bit too strong a word for the food?).  A leisurely walk back to the gay ghetto and my afternoon was pretty much gone.

On line buddy Rob and I were off to see The Simpsons Movie (my comments here, no spoilers).  A decent dinner at Hair of the Dog and then a short stop at the current bear bar of choice, O'Gradys.  Nice crowd, great outdoor seating area.  The first bar I've been to in recent memory where the music didn't result in genetic mutations.

Toronto's one hell of a fun city.

At least its comforting to know that I'm virginal in something...

Any recommendations regarding websites from which to post my vacation photographs?  No, not that kind of photographs...

Thanks!
