(Apologies, this post is about a week delayed)
All good things come to an end and this was my last full day on vacation and in NYC. It's been a great trip and I wanted this last day to be low stress. First up was a mid-morning brunch organized by
bearfuz. Timing is everything in life sometimes and this time it was working against me. Of the New York contingent, only the truly sweet
jazzbearny was able to join us. Chip has selected a local favorite, Primotivo, which turned out to be only a block from my hotel. Good food, nice atmosphere, and some truly engaging conversation. Thanks Chip and Cliff!
Not wanting it to end, we all decided to venture up to the theater district to harass one of Chip's friends who manages the merchandise booth at A Chorus Line. Circumstances conspired against us again and the planned harassment didn't quite happen. We strolled about, I bought some incredibly tacky souvenirs. The calories from brunch had barely been processed when we decided that a stop at Juniors for cheesecake was a necessity. More calories were subsequently ingested, happy tummy messages received.
jazzbearny left our company as he had an engagement uptown while
bearfuz and I were traveling back downtown to board the SeaTea evening cruise. There's something about taking a cruise up the Hudson and East Rivers. I know of no better way to appreciate the size and grandeur of New York City than from a water-based location. The zillion lights in the multitude of high rise buildings which seem to stretch as far as the eye can see. The strings of pearl lighting the bridges. Amazing.
And so ended my vacation (well, one final night in NYC and then the long boring plane ride home). Fun, busy, not-to-forget memories. I'm glad I went.
