I just learned that a good friend of mine was picked up for DUI this past Saturday.  He's a good guy, social drinker, more than smart enough to know when he's had too much.

But he didn't.

Having just looked at some web information on the penalties for drunk driving all I can say is...

Don't.

Oy! Those boys are really out right now. A couple of my clients got them this year. Before 2007, the DUI was on your record for 8 years. Now it's on your record for 10 years. And there's only a couple of companies that will write auto insurance. Not to mention he can't get a very high Excess Liability policy, too.

Oy. Poor guy.

Everyone, if you're going to drive simply don't drink. Period!

What struck me about this was how much my buddy is like you or me. Just looking to have a good time, not a career drinker, and now he's going to have to pay a hefty price.
