Hey Kids, Know What Time It Is? It's Holiday Depression Time!

They say there are two things you cannot avoid, death and taxes.  I'll add a third - being depressed over the holidays.  Yep, that "when is this crap going to be over?" is back for it's annual visitation.

Maybe all of us grumpsters should form a club.  Now all we need is a catchy name...

And just for fun, I can feel a cold coming on.

At least I have an icon

I think it's like the deli counter. You take a number and wait...

Holiday depression is a drag, indeed. The only thing keeping me from being affected by it here was the warm weather that lasted in NY through October: my subconscious still thinks it's September. Only the pumpkin pie will will convince it otherwise.

come spend the holidays with us, I will *guarantee* no depression, and a snog under the mistletoe!

Just one snog? Sheesh! Cheapskate!!

What I hate is all the commercialism that goes with this and the forced feeling of having a good time. So I only see those I want to see and I only give presents to my nephews and niece. The rest of it can take a hike.

You remind me of an old holiday song parody...

"Angels we have heard on high
Tell us to go out and BUY!"

Sad indeed.

The best cure for holiday depression: Do not have any expectations of the season, do not feel obligated to visit anyone or buy anyone a present, and try to catch a holiday party or two. With this advice I guarantee your best holiday season ever! :)

I try to keep my holidays simple. I don't do Black Friday, and I avoid the malls with all my might; otherwise, I'd get depressed. I go to a few parties and stay for as long as I want. I catch up with folks that I haven't seen/spoken to in a while. [You're on that list btw.] In short... do what makes your boat float during the holidays.
