I've been trying to persuade Chuck to get the E55 wagon (dogs, you know) but he is strangely resistant...
I want to know how badly it sucks the gas so I can feel justified in being cheap and only getting the SL500, which actually gets 25mpg on the highway. Or to put it another way, 75 miles Guerneville to SF + 50 miles of short trips around town + 75 miles back = $40 of gas.
This one is a 2004, looks new, runs better than new.
I had an opportunity to buy a gorgeous 2006 CLK500 coupe instead (a buddy is in the car biz and they both were in his fleet) which certainly would have been the more practical option. As you'd imagine, the E55 guzzles fuel like mad (I'm expecting 15 around town, worse if I, ahem, test the supercharger often. Highway is going to be just about 20 I'm told. And it's all premium, of course.
Still and all, I don't use it every day (work truck, you know) and somehow it all makes sense when I put the pedal down.
Actually the Mercedes is 4 years old but doesn't look it. So the new car smell is long gone. But, I'm thinking that a leather aroma spray would do very nicely...
