Square Dance Saturday
Jan. 11th, 2004 02:00 pm100% square dance stuff yesterday. Our monthly morning Board meeting. I was pretty proud of the fact that once we got the meeting started, it was done in about 1 1/2 hours, a record I think. No glossing over important stuff either. But then again, we didn't have any truly serious topics to sweat over. Color me happy.
And then it was off to fetch the new club directories at a member's home just south of Golden Gate Park and near the ocean, then to Office Max to get paper to print flyers, then home to print the flyers, then helping tune up a flyer
fuzzygruf's mate had developed, PHEW!
I managed an hour or so of goofing off and then it was off to Palo Alto for a dance being held by El Camino. Had company driving down and back again which was welcome - George, Richard, and Steve - with the former fetching a ride back from
bowlerbehrsf. Having company always makes the drive a lot more fun. The dance itself had a 50's theme, with folks dressing up in period costumes. Never having been into dress up, I appreciate those who are but have little urge to join them. Some folks REALLY got into it. One of the hosts must have switched outfits five times during the evening! The decorations were about as extensive as I've ever seen at a dance. I not sure if people really appreciated how much effort had been put in (the deft hand of the ever-giving Peggy was obvious) and I do wonder how many would have had just a good a time without all the fluff. It makes me wonder about the balance we should adopt between dancing and non-dancing efforts.
As usual, I seem to do less dancing and more chatting at these events. It was good to see LJer
excessor and had a good long chat with
bowlerbehrsf. I danced one Advanced tip, did better than I thought but was terribly grateful for the strong A dancers in my square. I'll admit to feeling a little "off" and was fearful that I'd come down with another cold (fortunately not). Could it be that I'm losing interest in square dancing?
