The Rat Pack - Live at the Sands
Nov. 20th, 2007 09:02 amSo, I go to this show last night, The Rat Pack - Live at the Sands. I'm figuring 'cool, another one of those amazing CGI creations, this time of a bunch of rodents in the desert'. But no, it wasn't that at all. It was about these three guys pretending to be three other dead guys singing in a Las Vegas nightclub. Well yeah, that's neat. I mean how hard is it to sing better than three dead guys?
So then I remember that this Vegas place was recently torn down. I'm figuring 'cool, it's a disaster story, the nightclub crumbles to the ground with these guys inside!'. But no, it wasn't that at all either. From what I can work out, the three dead guys (their names were Frank, Sammy, and Dean) died of natural causes. Well yeah, that's if you call alcoholism a 'natural cause'.
So, OK, by now I'm pretty bummed. I mean, three guys who don't really look like three dead guys singing old songs while faking a nightclub show in a casino that doesn't even exist any more? Where's the cool in that??
Oh, yeah, their singing was OK, even if they didn't really sound like the original guys even when they weren't dead.
