Vacation Day 2 - Toronto

Slow start to the day. I'd forgotten how much the 3 hour time change throws your body clock around.
Set my expectations low for the day. Wandering the gay ghetto that is Church Street. My generous hosts noted that one of the impacts of Canada's changing legislation on gay life has, to a degree, made a nuclear gay community less necessary. Fewer businesses are surviving, the buzz is just a little softer.
Toronto seems much the same as I recall. So much more history than the West Coast. Toronto is a city of contrasts. Beautiful tree lined quiet streets backing up to characterless high rise condominium block buildings. Canada's biggest city is a rough and tumble place but one I could grow accustomed to (as soon as they remove the humidity in the summer and frigid winters...).
I'd forgotten what it's like to slog my way through humid air. Who needs swimming!
Coffee at Timothys (Starbears East) with my buddy Rob, then dinner with fellow square dance cult members Tom and Peter, none of whom are LJ swamp dwellers. The day was a good lazy first day of vacation. And no, Kent, I don't want some wine (guess you had to be there, it was funny as hell last night).
