I guess I'm one of those that am a little picky about foodage. My strong allergy to fish in general nothwithstanding, I'll eat most meats and veggies with the exception of sweet potatoes (don't know why but they taste 'funny' to me) and brussel sprouts (vile things that should be put back into the soil until they improve). Never had avocado as a kid on the East Coast and never developed a taste for it. One day I need to post a rant about "stuff they try to put on pizza". One of my favorite pizza places, Goat Hill Pizza in Potrero Hill has a Monday, one price, pizza 'dim sum'. Wonderful pizza, but I swear that the kitchen staff must go a little batty from the heat of the ovens. Some combinations are simply bizarre. Speaking of which, anyone wanna attack the place one Monday?

But give me a slice of meatloaf (I'm still looking for the ideal recipe), some properly cooked mixed veggies, and a warm roll and I'm in hog heaven.

No diet is any fun unless you break it now and again.

I have never been able to make an edible meatloaf. I have made seven-course dinners from scratch, but I can't do a meatloaf. It's such a satisfying food and, as leftovers, it's a perfect sandwich.

Whenever someone tells me they don't eat brussels sprouts, I want to try to convince them that they really do and just don't know it. I did this at Christmas and everyone was very polite about it. sigh Oh well, it leaves more for me. I adore them.

I like Goat Hill Pizza. I've been there twice in my life, the second time about 18 months after the first. The waitress looked at me and said, “We've been waiting for you to come back.” If I were to scare easily, this would do it.

My dad's parents were Sicilian and my mom, a very white, blue-eyed Texan, learned how to make all the dishes my grandparents and dad loved. I had only eaten a store-bought pizza perhaps three or four times before I left home. My grandmother used to tell me that she didn't know what we were eating when we added toppings, but it's not called pizza. She refused to even try it.

I love all the weird pizzas and their toppings. Barbecued chicken on pizza is pretty good and I'm a big fan of ham-and-pineapple pizza. But I must admit, my favorite is just plain old tomato, cheese, and oregano. I sure do miss my grandmother and her pizza.

I'm a New Yorker by birth but never really ate pizza until I was in my 20's. I got imprinted with the NY style tomato/cheese pizza (regular or sicilian style) and still consider it the best. I've grown to like the hawaiian (ham and pineapple) and BBQ chicken variants too. Ugh, stop, I'm getting hungry!

Darling, I live work in San Jose and live in Fremont, the Pearl of the East Bay. It's difficult to make it up there on a Monday. But thanks for asking.
